Terms of Service

Welcome to DevSpec. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our AI-powered developer productivity platform. By using DevSpec, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using DevSpec, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

DevSpec is an AI-powered developer productivity platform. We provide intelligent development sessions through AI technology to help you plan, build, and ship software more effectively.

The service includes:

  • AI-powered development sessions via text and voice
  • Repository and database integration for contextual AI assistance
  • Continuity across sessions through context and memory
  • Different AI personas and approaches
  • File upload support for sharing documents and code

3. Important Disclaimers

AI-Generated Output

DevSpec provides AI-generated suggestions and analysis. While our AI assistants are designed to be helpful, they may produce inaccurate or incomplete output. Always review AI-generated code, architecture recommendations, and technical advice before using them in production. DevSpec is a productivity tool, not a substitute for professional judgement and thorough code review.

4. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use DevSpec
  • You must provide accurate account information
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

5. Your balance

Getting started

  • A first organization receives a starting balance to try the service
  • Every feature is available; what you can do is limited only by your balance

Adding funds

  • Funds are added in advance, in any amount you choose
  • Your balance does not expire
  • Optional automatic top-ups charge your saved card when your balance falls below a level you set, up to a monthly limit you set

6. Billing and Refunds

  • There is no subscription and no recurring platform fee
  • You are charged only when you add funds or when an automatic top-up runs
  • You can turn automatic top-ups off at any time
  • Funds added are generally non-refundable except as required by law
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice

7. Your Data and Privacy

Your use of DevSpec is governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes in detail:

  • What data we collect (including project context)
  • How we use your data
  • What data is shared with AI providers
  • Your rights and controls: exporting your data, closing your account, and for organizations exporting and deleting their data

Our Privacy Commitments

  • ✓We do not sell your data - ever
  • ✓Your conversations are not used to train AI models
  • ✓All data is encrypted at rest and in transit
  • ✓Access follows membership: you see only the organizations, projects and rooms you belong to
  • ✓You can export your data and close your account at any time; an organization's Owner can export or delete the organization's data

8. AI Provider Terms

To provide our service, your conversations are processed by third-party AI providers (primarily Anthropic; see our Privacy Policy for the full list of providers and what each receives). By using DevSpec, you acknowledge that:

  • Your messages and context are sent to these providers
  • Each provider has their own terms and privacy policies
  • API data is NOT used for model training by these providers
  • Providers may retain data briefly (up to 30 days) for abuse monitoring

9. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use DevSpec to:

  • Generate illegal, harmful, or abusive content
  • Harass, threaten, or harm others
  • Attempt to bypass usage limits or security measures
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
  • Use automated systems to abuse the service
  • Process data you don't have rights to share
  • Attempt to extract or reverse-engineer the AI models

Violation of these terms may result in immediate account suspension or termination.

10. AI-Generated Content

Important: AI-generated responses may contain errors, inaccuracies, or reflect biases. The AI is not a licensed professional. You are responsible for evaluating any AI output and should not rely on it for medical, legal, financial, or crisis decisions.

  • AI responses are provided "as is" without warranties of accuracy
  • Do not rely on AI output in production without proper review and testing
  • Verify important information with qualified professionals
  • The AI may occasionally provide inappropriate or unhelpful responses

11. Intellectual Property

Your Content

You retain ownership of the content you submit. By using DevSpec, you grant us a limited license to process your content through our service and AI providers as necessary to provide the service.

Our Content

DevSpec, including its design, features, personas, prompts, and branding, is owned by us. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our intellectual property without permission.

12. Service Availability

  • We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service
  • We may modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice
  • Scheduled maintenance will be announced when possible
  • Third-party AI provider outages may affect service availability

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • DevSpec is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months
  • We are not responsible for AI provider errors or outages
  • We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI outputs
  • We are not liable for any harm resulting from reliance on AI-generated content

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DevSpec and its officers, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these Terms.

15. Termination

  • You may close your account at any time from Settings → Data & Privacy
  • We may terminate or suspend accounts that violate these Terms
  • Upon termination, your right to use the service ends immediately
  • Closing your account removes what identifies you; the work you contributed stays with the organizations it belongs to, as our Privacy Policy describes

16. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms will be resolved through:

  1. Good faith negotiation between the parties
  2. If unresolved, binding arbitration under applicable rules
  3. Small claims court remains available for qualifying disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where DevSpec is incorporated, without regard to conflict of law principles.

17. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.

19. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and DevSpec regarding use of the service.
